Gwen Doolittle Stratton
Gwen Doolittle Stratton, 85, of Ewing passed away Wednesday at her home.
Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Stratton was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was a graduate of Trenton High School – Class of 1941. After graduating high school she was employed by C. V. Hill in Trenton until marrying in 1947.
Mrs. Stratton was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Trenton Country Club, ladies nine-holers and the West Trenton Garden Club. She loved playing cards at the Ewing Senior Center, china painting, needle point and bus trips to Atlantic City with friends and family.
Daughter of the late Wesley A. and Edith Morgan Doolittle, wife of the late William C. Stratton, sister of the late Florence Eyre Reed, Daniel, Frederic and Wesley A. Doolittle, Jr., she is survived by her three children, Beth A. and her husband Edward Bice of Ewing, David F. and his wife Diane Stratton of Ewing and Pamela S. Miller of Yardley; six grandchildren, Todd Wallace, Brian and his wife Lesley Stratton, Craig and his wife Michele Stratton, Lauren Stratton, Wesley and Alyssa Miller; two great grandchildren, Emma Wallace and Connor Stratton; one sister, Miriam Bahrenburg of Red Bank; one sister-in-law, Rose Doolittle of Ewing; also nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive those wishing to express condolences on Monday at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave. Ewing from 9 to 11AM followed by the memorial service at 11AM. The Rev. Jan Willem van der Werff, pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in Ewing Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Hospice VNA, 171 Jersey St., Trenton, NJ 08611 www.vnahomecare.org or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
The family wishes to thank the Hospice VNA of Trenton and the Bayada Agency of Lawrenceville.
