Harry R. Closson
Harry R. Closson, 88, of Ewing passed away on Friday at the VA New Jersey Health Care System – East Orange.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Closson retired as Captain of the Trenton Fire Department after a 32 year career.
He was a graduate of Trenton High School – Class of 1942; a member of the Fireman’s Benevolent Association; the American Legion Post 458 and the retired officers of Trenton Fire Department.
Mr. Closson was a US Army veteran of WWII and awarded the Purple Heart for injuries received in Normandy during the European Theater.
Son of the late Harry R. and Margaret Bradley Closson and brother of the late Margaret Murphy, he is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 64 years, Martha M. Closson; his son, H. Richard Closson of Oakland, CA; his nieces and their families, Betty Ann Frontino of Bonita Springs, FL and Martha Kallejian of Santa Fe, NM.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9:30 until 10:30 AM at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave., Ewing. Funeral service will begin at 10:30AM officiated by the Rev. Msgr. Ralph Stansley, Pastor of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church. Burial will follow in the Washington Crossing Veterans Cemetery, Washington Crossing, PA
