Anna P. Diehl
Anna P. Diehl - After an extraordinary and unparalleled life of 96 years, Anna P. Diehl passed away on May 7, 2013.

Born to local business proprietors, Anna graduated from Immaculate Conception High School as class valedictorian, and matriculated to Rider College. Her studies at Rider progressed from a bachelor of education in commerce, B.Ed., and culminated in the degree of masters of arts in business education. Anna graduated summa cum laude in both her degrees, and it is worthy to note that she also pursued doctoral studies in her field.

In concert with her distinguished 42-year career as both consummate teacher and guidance counselor, Anna's achievements included executive board and trustee positions in numerous societies and charitable organizations. Her volunteerism over the decades was lauded by her peers, and recognized time and again with multiple honors and leadership positions, including the NJ Teachers Association (president), the Mercer County Guidance Association (president), the NJ Business Education Association (president), and the Mercer County Retired Educators Association (president).

In recognition of her service and dedication to the craft of teaching, an eponymous scholarship was created by the Mercer County Retired Educators Association. This scholarship is awarded annually to a pupil pursuing studies in the field of education.

Anna is survived by her beloved husband, Louis. Together in marriage for more than 69 years, they created a family, traveled the world, and dedicated themselves to their professions and community. More than anything, Anna and her Louie shared the best of themselves and their lives with their family and friends. They engendered a legacy of pride for the generations of family left to mourn Anna's passing.

It is difficult to parse nearly a century of "life" in a few brief passages. Suffice it to say that mere words cannot capture or describe the trajectory of a life lived as Anna's was. She was the epitome of grace and elegance. She was loved, and she will be missed. Even in death, Anna, remains inimitable and irreplaceable.

Funeral services were held privately.

Contributions in memoriam may be made in Anna's name to the MCREA Scholarship Fund, C/O Carmella DeMarco, 77 Wagon Wheel Lane, Columbus, NJ 08022.

Arrangements were by the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 1863 Hamilton Ave., Hamilton
