Leonor Ramirez Martinez
Leonor Ramirez Martinez, “Abuela,” of Trenton, New Jersey passed away peacefully Friday, August 9, 2013 at Capital Health Center in Hopewell New Jersey, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Bogota, Colombia, Leonor immigrated to Trenton, New Jersey with her beloved husband, German Martinez Sr. and their two eldest children in 1959. She and her husband have resided in Trenton ever since. Leonor would go on to work in secretarial and bookkeeping positions, and was always a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Her selfless efforts were a reflection of her commitment to family. Although petite in stature, she was a powerful force and the hub of the family. Leonor’s vivacious attitude was always contagious and helped her family live life to the fullest.
She was a long-standing member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Trenton, and more recently Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Ewing. At various times Leonor served as president, secretary, and treasurer of El Círculo Hispano Americano of Princeton, where she made enduring friendships continuing to this day.
Leonor is survived by her loving husband of 58 years German and their three children; daughter Maria Teresa Moran and husband Michael of Houston, Texas, along with their three children and spouses, Patrick and Cassie Moran of Austin, Texas, Matthew and Charity Moran of Houston, Texas, and Kevin Moran of New Orleans, Louisiana; son German Martinez Jr. and wife Mindi along with their three children, Ryan, Alanna, and Alec of Stockton, New Jersey; and daughter Catherine Stephan and fiancée Robert Berg and sons, Kyle and Tyler Stephan of Doylestown, Pennsylvania; as well as several family members living locally and in Colombia, South America and abroad.
The family will receive friends at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 137 West Upper Ferry Road, West Trenton, NJ 08628 on Friday from 9 until the Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 11am.
