Constance “Connie” Caltagirone
Constance “Connie” Caltagirone, 84, of Yardville, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Capital Health Systems – Hopewell, with her loving family by her side.
Born in Trenton, Connie was a life long area resident.
She was Office Manager for Shop Rite Supermarkets in Mt. Holly, N.J. and Trenton, where she retired in 1974 after more than 30 years of service.
Connie was a former member of St. James Church on E. Paul Ave. in Trenton, and a current member of St. Vincent De Paul Church in Yardville. She enjoyed ceramics, trips to Atlantic City, knitting blankets for all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, watching movies, and “Days of Our Lives” with her husband everyday. But most of all, she enjoyed cooking and baking the family dinner on Sundays, and the holidays.
Daughter of the late Antonio and Tommasina Coppola Damiano, sister of the late Mary Miceli, Catherine, Salvatore, Melchiore, Rudolfo, and Anthony Damiano Jr., and sister-in-law of the late Gloria Damiano, she is survived by her loving husband of 64 years John A. Caltagirone of Yardville; son, Carmen Caltagirone of Hamilton; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Anna and Pasquale Papero of Hamilton; Tommasina and Michael Biase of Palmer Township, PA.; Antonia “Toni” Haney of Mercerville, and her companion Ralph Bencivengo; daughter-in-law, Maria Ricci; Twelve grandchildren Maria Colgan (Kevin), Pat Papero Jr. (Stacy), Anthony Papero (Kara), Michael Papero (Kristina), Joseph Ricci, Michael Biase (Valerie), Antoinette Carbone (Mario), Anthony Haney (Jessica), Lisa Haney (Matt), John Caltagirone (Kellie), Rose Emma Biase (Matt), and Kevin Haney, Ten great grandchildren, four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Vincent Damiano, Armando Damiano, Thomas Damiano (Eileen), Joseph Damiano, and Terry Damiano; two sisters, Marie Cooper and Anna Reise; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including her special friend Eileen Catanse.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at. St. Vincent De Paul Church on S. Broad St. in Yardville.
Burial will take place in Our Lady Our Lourdes Cemetery, Cedar Lane in Hamilton.
Calling hours will be Friday evening from 5 – 8:00 p.m., and Saturday morning from 9:00 – 10:15 a.m. at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home 1863 Hamilton ave. in Hamilton. Visit www.murphyfh.com.
