Thomas T. Henk
Thomas T. Henk of Mercerville passed away suddenly at the age of 58, on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the RWJ University Hospital at Hamilton, after a lifetime of coping with Type 1 diabetes. Born in Trenton, Tom was a life-long Mercerville resident. He was a retired IT systems professional.
Son of the late Albert Henk and Mary Alice Talbot Henk, and the grandson of his adored “Granny,” Mary Hill Talbot,Tom is survived by his loving wife Rachel Sieverts Henk and their daughter Leah, the joy of his life. Also by, three brothers and two sisters and their families: Norman and Lynn Henk of Perkasie, PA; David Henk of Jacksonville, FL; Robert and Letty Henk of Merritt Island, FL; Suzanne and Steve Hoard of Chesterfield, VA; and Elizabeth Henk of Tampa, FL.
With a large circle of family and friends, Tom will always be remembered for his quick wit and engagingly eccentric sense of humor. Tom was passionate about Halloween, and brought happiness to hundreds of Mercerville kids with his ever-expanding Halloween displays, with the house, garage, and front yard transformed with increasingly dramatic ghosts, and ghouls in a haunted graveyard – replete with light and / sound effects.
A private funeral service will take place this week for his immediate family. It is wished that no flowers be sent. A memorial to celebrate Tom’s life will be held in the early Spring, details to be announced.
