Joseph F. “ Yikesy” Woods
Joseph F. “ Yikesy” Woods, 83, of Hamilton, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis in Trenton.

Born and raised in East Trenton, he was a graduate of the Trenton School System. Joe was a Hamilton resident most of his life. He was a tree climber for the Mercer County Shade Tree Commission from 1957 until 1997. Joe moved to Seaside Park, NJ after his retirement.

Joe played soccer and was the trainer for Olden AA, which won the NJ State Cup in 1954. He was a life member of the Cook AA. Joe enjoyed the beach, fishing, trips to Atlantic City with his good friend Richie Czarnecki and loved watching his children and grandchildren’s sporting events, but most of all, he enjoyed family vacations.

Son of the late Clinton and Mary Kolczyski Thorn, husband of the late Genevieve S. Woods, and father of the late Joseph F. Woods Jr. (Trenton Fireman), he is survived by a daughter, Susan Lubitsky and Thomas Ridge of Hamilton; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Jacqualine Woods of Hamilton; five grandchildren, Rebecca, Sarah, and Theresa Lubitsky, and Chelsie and Patrick Woods; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Louis and Carmela Smith; Very Rev. Richard Smith, V.F.; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a lot of great friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, E. State St. Ext. in Mercerville. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Cedar Lane in Hamilton.

Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 6 9 PM and Wednesday morning from 9:30 10:30 AM at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home 1863 Hamilton Ave., Hamilton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke Roman Catholic Parish, C/O St. Andrew’s Parish Center, 14401 Sinepuxent Ave., Ocean City, MD 21842.
