Phyllis D. Shedlock
Phyllis D. Shedlock, 88, of Yardley, PA., passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Chelsea Senior Living in Jenkintown, PA.
Born in Schuylkill Haven, PA, Phyllis moved to Philadelphia at the age of 18, and resided most of her life in the Greater Philadelphia area.
Phyllis graduated from the Eckels College of Mortuary Science, Philadelphia in 1943 making her one of the first woman Funeral Directors/Embalmers. She was the owner/operator of the Phyllis D. Romano Funeral Home in Schuylkill Haven, PA from 1950 until 1972. Phyllis was also employed by the City of Philadelphia, Department of Justice for 15 years.
Daughter of the late Francis A. and Josephine Kehoe Romano, Sr., wife of the late John Edward Shedlock, and sister of the late Virginia Keating, Kathryn Lehman, and Gloria Schweigert, she is survived by her brother, Dr. Francis A. Romano, Jr. and wife Wanda of Yardley, PA; two nieces, Elisa Rombach and husband George, and Sheryl Houser and husband John; two nephews, Francis A. Romano III and wife Megan, and Francis Keating; also, a special great niece, Clara.
Funeral Mass and burial in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne, PA will be private.
