Joseph Allen Lowndes Sr.
Joseph Allen Lowndes Sr., 88, of Hamilton, passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton.

Born in Camden, NJ, Joseph was a life long area resident.

He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII.

Joseph was a scalemaster for American Biltrite Tile Co. in Trenton, where he retired after 25 years, and a warehouse manager for Lit Brothers Department Store in Trenton. What he enjoyed most of his life after retirement, was being a Hamilton Township Crossing Guard for many years until his passing.

Son of the late Edward and Georgianna Sherwood Lowndes Jr., husband of the late Anna V. Lowndes, father of the late Joseph A. Lowndes Jr., and Roberta E. Warford, brother of the late Cora, Edna, Catherine, Regina, Jesse, Rudy, John, and Louis, he is survived by four daughters and four sons-in-law, Linda Hughes; Brenda Chapman and husband Jon; Sharon Martinez and husband Marty; Anna Ervin and husband Robert; Dennis Warford; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Allen Lowndes; Edward Lowndes and wife Ruth; Charles Lowndes; Deborah Lowndes; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home 1863 Hamilton Ave. in Hamilton. Visit www.murphyfh.com for additional information.

Burial will be in Brigadier Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, N. Hanover Twp. NJ.

Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 6 8 p.m., and Wednesday morning from 9:15 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
