Dorothy M. Lettiere
Dorothy M. Lettiere, 97, of Hamilton, N.J. passed away at home on Thursday, July 10, 2014.
Born in Trenton on her mother’s birthday, December 11, 1916, Dorothy lived in Hamilton for the past 26 years. She attended Saint Anthony’s Grammar School and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School as valedictorian in 1935. In addition to being an excellent student, she wowed audiences with her talents as the leading lady in the school plays.
Dorothy graduated from the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in 1938, devoting herself to caring for the sick. A compassionate, outstanding nurse with excellent leadership skills, she headed the medical/surgical floor on 3rd South at St. Francis Hospital for many, many years.
Dorothy enjoyed family gatherings, knitting, reading, listening to music, going out to dinner, dancing, vacationing in Lavalette, N.J., and visiting the island of Guam.
As Dorothy returns home to her heavenly Father, she will be greeted by her husband, Michael A. Lettiere, Sr., her parents Albert V. and Mary A. Wagner, her siblings Albert C. Wagner and Genevieve M. Haney, her grandparents and her extended family members who have gone before her.
Dorothy will be missed by her children and their spouses: Carole J. Ross and her husband John Ross, Sr. of Kansas, Sister Dorothy Lettiere, Sisters of Mercy (Guam), Michael A. Lettiere, Jr. and his wife Louise Lettiere of Yardville, and Denise Y. Murphy and her husband, Desmond Murphy of Trenton; her grandchildren: Audrey Russel, John Ross, Jr., Susan Wixon, Jeanette Kelly, Marissa Barnhart, Jennifer Carseberg, Caitlin Murphy and Colleen Murphy; great-grandchildren: Stephen Russell, Jr., Matthew Russell, Jacqueline Russell, Dariah Wixon, Bennett Wixon, Daniel Donoher, Alexander Carseberg, Josie Kelly, Eva Kelly, Lucy Kelly, Christopher Kelly, Jr., Hailey O’Neill, Emma Barnhart, Abigail Barnhart and Kelly Ross; great-great grandchildren: Avery Wagner, Aidan Russell, Brianna Lynn Russell; nieces, Janet Larkin and Mary Elizabeth Fisher and nephew, Albert John Wagner, and friends and co-workers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 16 at 9:30 AM in St. Anthony’s Church, 626 South Olden Ave., Hamilton.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 - 8PM and Wednesday from 8 - 9AM at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home 1863 Hamilton Ave. Hamilton NJ 08619.
Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery.
