Rose M. Russo
Rose M. Russo, 81, of Hamilton and formerly of Lawrenceville, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014 at the Mercerville Center in Hamilton.
Born in Trenton, Rose was a lifelong area resident.
She was a homemaker, and along with her late husband Peter J. Russo, the original co-owner of the Ivy Tavern, located near the Whitehorse Circle in Hamilton from 1956 until the time of her death. The Ivy Tavern is still owned and operated by the Russo family.
An avid golfer, Rose was a graduate of Trenton High School - Class of 1951. She enjoyed cooking and loved entertaining her family and friends.
Daughter of the late Francis and Maria Turano Maurio, wife of the late Peter J. Russo, and pre-deceased by seven siblings, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard R. and Patricia Russo of Clifton, VA; and Michael J. and Elaine L. Russo of Hamilton; four grandchildren, Kristen, Michele, Michael Russo Jr. and Samantha Russo; a sister, Lucy Pollaro of Hamilton; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Lydia Maurio of Hamilton; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 12 noon at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 1863 Hamilton Ave., Hamilton.
Burial will be in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Hamilton.
The family will receive visitors on Tuesday from 10AM until time of services at the funeral home.
