Robert A. Cooper
Robert A. Cooper, 87, of West Trenton passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Compassionate Care Hospice at St. Francis.

Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident.

Mr. Cooper graduated from Trenton Catholic Boys High School in 1944.

He served honorably in the United States Navy during WWII aboard the USS Bailey. Mr. Cooper was stationed in the Philippines and participated in the decommissioning of the USS Bailey in 1946.

Mr. Cooper joined the New Jersey National Guard in 1947. He served as a Purchasing and Contracting Officer with the Department of Defense State of New Jersey before retiring in 1981 as a Lieutenant Colonel.

He was a member of the National Guard Association and the American Legion Post 458, Trenton.

Son of the late John and Mary Raczko Kupper, brother of the late Irene Cooper Hannon, Ernest, Joseph and John Cooper, Jr., uncle of the late Joanne Flynn, Edward J. Cooper, Claire Goodwin and Virginia Puliti, he is survived by several great nieces and nephews, including, Joanne Knox and husband Dan, Irene Flynn, and Darren Flynn and wife Sharon. He is also survived by Sandra Cooper and James Puliti; and a special friend, Geri Derrico.

Mr. Cooper enjoyed traveling and loved spending time with his family and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday 8:30 a.m. from the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave., Ewing. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 137 W. Upper Ferry Rd., West Trenton.

Burial with military honors will immediately follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Cooper’s name may be made to Catholic Charities Diocese of Trenton, 383 West State Street, Trenton NJ, 08607.
