Margaret W. “Peg” Murphy
Margaret W. “Peg” Murphy, 85, of Hamilton passed away Sunday at Compassionate Care Hospice surrounded by her family.
Born in Trenton, she was a lifelong resident.
Peg was employed by Helene Fuld Medical Center as a purchasing agent for almost 25 years before retiring in 1991. She also worked as a seamstress for Tina’s Bridal Shop for 15 years.
A graduate of Trenton High School, she was a communicant of St. Raphael’s Church and active in the PTA. She was a fabulous cook and a dedicated mother and grandmother who attended all of her grandchildren’s activities.
Daughter of the late Leo Welsh and the late Mary and Earl Herdman and wife of 60 years of the late Frank T. Murphy, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lorie Ann and Henry Reynolds of Hamilton; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Maggie Murphy of Hamilton; 4 grandchildren, Sean and Tara Reynolds, and Timothy and Michael Murphy; 2 great grandchildren Noah and Trenton Murphy; a sister, Nancy Gorman of Hamilton; 2 brothers and a sister-in-law, Frank and Gail Herdman of Sergeantsville, and Robert Herdman of FL; nieces and nephews including, Kathleen Gorman, Denise Dorflinger, Cynthia Hritz and Wade Herdman; and her goddaughter, Susan Hope.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 until 7pm and Monday from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 1863 Hamilton Ave. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
