Ann Cruz Wadkins
Mrs. Ann Cruz Wadkins, 91, of Ewing, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2014, at the Compassionate Care Hospice of St. Francis Hospital.
Ann was retired from Princeton University where she had been office manager for the head of Security and later worked in the Auditing department.
She loved to dance, having met her husband on the dance floor at Fort McPherson in Atlanta, Georgia. She was later an instructor at Arthur Murray’s Studios in Tallahassee, Florida, while helping put her husband through college at Florida State University. She and her husband later owned and operated a dance studio in Rocky Mount, NC.
Born in Managua, Nicaragua, she came to New Jersey with her husband and children in 1967, where she and her husband danced a lot more at the Elks club where they were members.
She had been an active member of the Circulo Hispano-Americano de Princeton, where she had even more opportunity to do ballroom dancing. Ann was past Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America Columbus Court 50, and she had been the treasurer of the Ewing branch of the Angel Collectors Club of America.
She was a devoted wife and mother, a creative and adventurous cook, and was loved by all who met her.
She was predeceased by her father, Alejandro Robles of Nicaragua. Because her mother had died when she was a baby, Ann was reared by her paternal grandmother to whom Ann was so devoted that she often said that when her grandmother died, she wanted to crawl into her coffin and die with her.
Ann is survived by her loving husband of sixty years and three months, James Robert Jefferson Wadkins; by her son James L. Wade, his wife Jewell, and their children and grandchildren: Charles Ribavaro and his daughter Alexandra; their oldest daughter Donna and her husband, Nicholas Foggia, with their three children Joseph, Vincent, and Anthony; and their youngest daughter Ruth Ann and her husband, Scott Kueny, with their three children Scott Jr., Matthew, and Alyssa. She is also survived by her oldest daughter Linda A. McClure; and her grandson Justin K. McClure, both of Eagle River, Alaska; and by her daughter Vivian E. Wadkins of Lawrenceville, who spent hour after hour at her mother’s bedside in the Compassionate Care Hospice.
Friends are invited to pay their respects to Ann’s family on Sunday afternoon 3 to 5 PM December 28, at M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave, Ewing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Good Counsel 137 W. Upper Ferry Rd, Ewing, NJ on Monday, December 29, at 10:30AM.
Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Hamilton following the Mass.
Flowers are welcome.
