John Vizaniaris, 71, of Hamilton, passed away on Sunday January 18, 2015 at home with his loving family by his side.
Born in Chios, Greece and formerly of Australia, John has been a resident of Hamilton since 1977.
He was a laborer for the General Motors Corporation, retiring in 1998 after 33 years of service.
John was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church and the Agios Georgios Sikkousis Society. He enjoyed working in his garden, and watching soccer.
Son of the late Andonis and Eleni Milonas Vizaniaris, he is survived by his loving wife, Irini Kollis Vizaniaris; a son, Andonis “Tony” Vizaniaris; two daughters, Helen Vizaniaris and Kiriaka Vizaniaris, and her fiancee, George Makris, all of Hamilton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Mary Vizaniaris, and Peter and Koula Vizaniaris, all of Australia; one uncle, Kostas Milonas and his wife, Androniki; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:45 a.m. at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home 1863 Hamilton Ave. in Hamilton.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Church 1200 Klockner Rd., Hamilton.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton.
Calling hours will be Wednesday evening from 7 – 9 P.M. at the funeral home.
