Mary Colangelo O’Brien
Mary Colangelo O’Brien, 96 of Troy, NY died peacefully on March 17, 2015. Born on October 31, 1918 in Schenectady, NY she spent most of her life in her beloved home in Troy, NY. She was pre-deceased by her husband Martin O’Brien and her daughter Mary Ellen Rosetti.

A graduate of Nott Terrace High School in Schenectady, she worked for General Electric during World War II. While her children were young she worked several years at the Sacred Heart School Cafeteria in Troy. Subsequently she worked for and retired from the Troy Savings Bank, Mortgage Department in 1984.

Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Maureen and Jacques Lebel of Trenton, NJ, her son-in-law Joseph Rosetti of Delmar, two granddaughters, Angela Rosetti (Larry Schaefer) of Niskayuna, Teresa Rosetti (John Theodoropoulos) of Clovis, NM, two grandsons, Jacques Lebel of Austin, TX and Martin-Paul Lebel of Hoboken NJ. She is also survived by one prized great granddaughter, Anna Austin of East Greenbush.

Mary’s parents immigrated from Pietragalla, Italy during times when the role of women was much different than today. She was the sole daughter with four older brothers. Throughout her life Mary strove to maintain her individual identity while paying due diligence to her role as wife and mother.

She truly enjoyed the thirteen winters she and “Poppy” spent in Florida, especially when children and grandchildren visited. In her earlier years she enjoyed sewing, a good game of badminton, and making homemade spaghetti sauce. Later she enjoyed the swimming class she religiously attended and the enduring friendships with her fellow swimmers. Watching her grandchildren swim or play soccer was always a delight.

Friends and family may call at Sacred Heart Church (310 Spring Ave., Troy) 9:30 to 10:15 am on Tuesday, March 24. A mass will follow at 10:30. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by the M. William Murphy Funeral Home 935 Parkway Ave. Ewing, NJ.
