William J. Sohl, Sr.
William J. Sohl, Sr., 89 of Ewing passed away Tuesday at Capital Health System – Hopewell Campus.
Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Sohl was a truck driver with Leaseway Transportation in Hamilton for 45 years and retired on April 18, 1988.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 314, Ewing; NJ State Special Police Lodge 83; BPOE Elks Lodge #105; the NJ Teamsters Local #469, and a life member of the VFW Post 7298, Ewing.
Mr. Sohl was awarded 2 Bronze Stars while proudly serving in the US Navy aboard the USS Jobb (DE 707) and being stationed in the Philippines.
Son of the late Rosina (Ginther) and Arthur E. Sohl, Sr., brother of the late Edward, Charles (Nancy), and Arthur E. Sohl, Jr., and brother-in-law of the late Robert Stemmer, he is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy S. Sohl; his son and daughter-in-law, William J. Jr. and Cindy Sohl; his daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Greg Hatley and his grandson, Zachry Michael Hatley all of Ewing; his sister, Doris Sohl Stemmer of FL; his sister-in-law, Doris Sohl; also many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday December 3, 2015 from 9 to 11AM at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave. Ewing. Funeral Services with US Navy honors will begin at 11AM with Pastor Richard Gay officiating.
