Giuseppe Contento, 91, of Ewing passed away Sunday at Compassionate Care Hospice at RWJUH.
Born in Pirano, Italy, he immigrated to the United State in 1954 to Pennington and shortly after to Ewing.
Mr. Contento was a carpenter working for Integro Terrazzo Incorporated for over 27 years and later with Jammer Door.
He enjoyed furniture making and fishing.
Mr. Contento served in the Italian Navy during WWII, was captured and survived a German Labor Camp.
Son of the late Giovanni and Maria Roman Contento and step-brother of the late Olivia Contento, he is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dirce Beltrame Contento; 3 sons and 2 daughters-in-law, George R. Contento of Ewing, Anthony A. and Turba Contento of Ewing, and Robert J. and Lourdes Contento, and her son, Ervin Ortiz of Mays Landing, NJ; 3 grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler and Michael Contento; 1 brother and sister-in-law, Fioravante and Aurora Contento of Venice, FL; 1 nephew, Daniel and his wife Marie Contento and their family.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 8:30 – 9:30AM at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave., Ewing.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10AM at Incarnation Church, 1545 Pennington Road, Ewing. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton.
