Douglas William Reed
Douglas William Reed died on May 1st, 2016 at University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro, surrounded by loving family, after succumbing in his battle with brain cancer.
Doug was born in Camden, New Jersey on October 5th, 1953 to Raymond Walter Reed and Louise A. Marshall Reed, both deceased.
He graduated from Morristown-Hamblen East High School in Morristown, Tennessee in 1972 and then served in the US Navy aboard the USS Saratoga in the Vietnam War until 1977.
He worked a variety of jobs in his lifetime, finally spending many years laying tiles with Regent Flooring. He had a lifelong passion for music, the Philadelphia Eagles and gardening.
He devoted himself to helping others through membership and service to Alcoholics Anonymous.
He is survived by his children Amber and Seth Reed; his sisters, Julie Trotman and Michelle Villamar; his brothers, Jack and Ed Reed, as well as 6 grandchildren, 3 nieces, 7 great-nieces and nephews, and 1 great-great-nephew.
The family will receive friends at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 1863 Hamilton Ave., Hamilton on Saturday, July 16, 2016 from 9 – 10 am. Funeral Services will begin at 10am. The Rev. Edward Conway will officiate. Burial will follow in Bordentown Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
