George Koutsouradis, 99, of Hamilton, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Compassionate Care Hospice at RWJUH at Hamilton.
Born in Samsun, Greece, a coastal town in the north of Turkey and belonging to the geographical region of Pontou, George was a veteran of the Greek Army serving during WWII, and came to the United States in 1948.
He started in the restaurant business in 1950 as a short order cook with Trionfetis in Chambersburg for 15 years, then as a night manager for Town and Country Diner in Bordentown for 10 years, and lastly, as a host for Mastoris Diner in Bordentown retiring in 1985.
George was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Hamilton, and AHEPA. He was Past President of the St. George Senior Citizens Club, and served on the Board of Trustees for 30 years of service.
Son of the late John and Eleanor Demetriades Koutsouradis, husband of the late Kathryn Zahariou Koutsouradis, and brother of the late Virginia Murilos, he is survived by a daughter, Anna Fountakis of Greece; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Magdalene Koutsouradis of Yardville; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his sister, Carolina Yiannakakides of Greece; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
George loved his family, friends, and the church with all his heart, and was grateful to receive such an outpouring of love in his final days.
Calling hours will be Monday from 6-9 PM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church 1200 Klockner Rd., Hamilton, NJ 08619, and Tuesday from 10-11 AM at the church. There are no calling hours in the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the church.
Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George’s memory to St. Greek Orthodox Church.
