Stanley Joseph Matecki
Stanley Joseph Matecki entered into final rest Dec. 22, 2016. He was 91.
Born in Trenton, NJ, on March 11, 1925, Stan was predeceased by his parents, Anna (nee Wolarski) and Wladyslaw (Walter) Matecki; his wife, Mary Elizabeth Mercier, and his daughter, Linda Matecki Campbell.
Stan is survived by his daughter, Nancy Elizabeth; two grandchildren, Rebecca Hope Campbell Melendez and Ernest Everett Campbell IV and their families; son-in-law, Ernest Everett Campbell III, and several nieces and nephews.
A Navy veteran of World War II, Stan was shipwrecked in the Atlantic in January 1943, before serving in the Pacific at places including Iwo Jima, Ulithi, Eniwetok, and Saipan. After separating from the service, Stan completed his education at Trenton Catholic High School, where he lettered as captain of the varsity baseball team, before joining and serving for 31 years in the Trenton Fire Department.
Upon his retirement, Betty and Stan moved to Stuart, FL, near his brother, Mike and his wife, and enjoyed many warm winters. After becoming widowed, Stan returned to New Jersey to be near his family, spending his final years in the excellent care of the N.J. Firemen's Home in Boonton, N.J.
Entombment will be at the convenience of the family.
