Mary Elizabeth Claffey
Mary Elizabeth Claffey, 88, of Trenton and Pennington passed away peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2017 at St. Mary’s Assisted Living – Morris Hall in Lawrenceville.
Born in Trenton, she was the daughter of the late Mae Kessler and George E. Claffey, Sr.
She was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament School in 1941 and Cathedral High School for Girls in 1946.
Mary was a dedicated employee of the New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company for 48 years where she headed the Payroll Department until 1994. After spending most of her life on Richey Place in Trenton, she moved to Pennington in the 1970s where she attended St. James Church.
Mary is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ted and Evelyn Claffey of Ewing; nieces, Mary Ellen McLaughlin of Hingham, MA, and Harley Carpenter of Pasadena, MD; nephews, George E. Claffey, III of Berlin, CT, and Joe Claffey of Lawrenceville, NJ. She also loved to spread her love to grandnieces Annie, Macy and Riley, and grandnephews Jack, Hugh, Ted and J.P.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 137 West Upper Ferry Road, West Trenton, NJ from 9AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30AM. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hamilton. There are no calling hours at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave., Ewing.
