Susan Cashel (nee Assunta DiStefano)
Susan Cashel (nee Assunta DiStefano) peacefully entered eternal life on January 17, at St. Joseph's Nursing Center in Lawrenceville, NJ surrounded by members of her loving family, and her care team.

Susan was the devoted daughter of the late Mary (nee DiGiovanni) and the late Marino DiStefano, both born in Abruzzi, Italy. She was the devoted daughter-in-law of the late Rose (nee Fitzpatrick) and the late Edward Cashel of Hopewell, NJ, and pre-deceased by brothers Joseph DiStefano of Morrisville, PA; and Anthony DiStefano of Lakewood, NJ.

Born in Trenton, NJ, Susan was the beloved wife of the late John Edward Cashel, and loving mother to six children: John Cashel (Lorraine) of Kissimmee, FL; Susan Matkov (Marc) of Princeton, NJ; Edward Cashel of Ft. Lauderdale , FL, Rosemary Therkelsen (Peter) of Walnut Creek, CA; Nancy Faherty (Robert) of Pennington, NJ; and James Cashel (Sally) of Chatham, NJ. Susan is also survived by two sisters, Angie Flacco and Cindy Giancarli (Albert), of Ewing; and several nieces and nephews.

Susan was so happy and proud to have ten grandchildren: Jes Therkelsen of Fresno, CA; Ava Kuhlen (Michael) of Berkeley, CA; Marly Faherty of Newport Beach, CA; Jack Faherty of Pennington, NJ; and Bridget Cashel, James Cashel, Abby Cashel, Sharon Cashel, Patrick Cashel and Karen Cashel, all of Chatham, NJ.

Susan was thrilled when her first great-grandchild, Calliope Kuhlen, was born in Berkeley, CA, in March 2015, and she was very excited to hear the recent news that Calliope would have a little sister coming next spring.

Susan was a devout Catholic, and her devotion to family reflected her profound religious faith. She was a lifelong supporter of the Miraculous Medal Association, The Sacred Heart Association, St. Jude League, Society of Mary, Franciscan Mission Associates, and Catholic Relief Services.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit this Saturday, January 21, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel, Morris Hall, 1 Bishops' Drive, Lawrenceville, NJ, 08648. A funeral mass will be celebrated in the Chapel following visitation. Burial is private.

Arrangements are by M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Avenue, Ewing, NJ.

Contributions in memory of Susan may be made to the Morris Hall Staff Appreciation Fund, One Bishop's Drive, Lawrenceville, NJ, 08648.
