Frank A. Clair, Jr., MD
Frank A. Clair, Jr., MD, 84, of Hopewell, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Greenwood House in Ewing surrounded by family.

Born in Trenton, where he resided most of his life, and formerly of Mercerville, Dr. Clair has been a Hopewell resident since 1974.

He was a graduate of Trenton Catholic Boys High School, Georgetown University, and New York Medical College. He completed his anesthesia residence at Graduate Hospital at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Clair was a dedicated member of St. Francis Medical Staff for 42 years where he practiced in anesthesia specializing in Neuro-Anesthesia. He retired 2002.

While at St. Francis Medical Center, Dr. Clair was President of the Hospital’s Medical Staff, and a member of St. Francis Medical Center Foundation. He was also a member of the American Medical Association, and the Medical Society of New Jersey.

When Dr. Clair wasn’t in the OR he was either in the woods cutting down trees or fishing for artic char or salmon.

Frank was a certified Tree Farmer who owned a Tree Farm in Hunterdon County, N.J. and was a certified Tree Farmer and was a member of the New Jersey Forestry Association.

Dr. Clair was an avid fly fisherman who fished from the Artic Cicle to Costa Rica and was a member of the Lake Solitude Fly Fishing Club in High Bridge, NJ.

Son of the late Elvira Lucina Clinton and Frank A. Clair, Sr., he is survived by his wife, Dianne H. Costanzo Clair; a daughter, Merrydith Gold of New York City; a son-in-law, Peter Gold of St. James, NY; a step-daughter, Holly Hoffman and her husband Claudio Di Candia of Ewing; five grandchildren Collyn, Benjamin, and Charlotte Gold, and Michael Angelo and Viviana Rose Di Candia; two sisters-in-law, Michele Costanzo, and Eileen Meagher and husband Joseph; a brother-in-law, Frederick Costanzo and wife Patricia; and many colleagues and dear friends.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 8 PM at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home 935 Parkway Ave. in Ewing.

Funeral services and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. Clair’s memory may be made to St. Francis Medical Center, 601 Hamilton Ave. ,Trenton, NJ 08629 or to the Greenwood House, 53 Walter St., Ewing, NJ 08628.
