Richard Eugene Cleghorn
Richard Eugene Cleghorn, 81, of Hamilton Square, passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at home, with his loving family by his side.
Born in Glens Falls, NY, and formerly of Fort Dix, Richard has resided in Hamilton Square since 1983.
Richard was a graduate of Glens Falls High School, earned his Bachelor's Degree from Ithaca College, his Master’s Degree from Trenton State College, and his Post – Master’s Degree from Rutgers University.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he played with the Army Band, and conducted the Army Chorus.
Richard was a professional pianist, playing for Presidents Eisenhower, Nixon, and Reagan and several New Jersey Governors. He taught music in the Burlington Township School District for 30 years, retiring in 1996.
Son of the late Marquis and Ruth Phelps Cleghorn, he is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Meany Cleghorn of Hamilton Square; two daughters and one son-in-law, Amy and Jeffrey Park of California, and Megan Cleghorn of Wilmington, DE; a brother and sister-in-law, Mark Cleghorn and Suzanne Pedretti of Minnesota; a sister and brother-in-law, Marcia and Nicholas Kretis of Florida; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues, and dear friends.
Calling hours will be Sunday Evening from 6 – 8 PM at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home 1863 Hamilton Ave. in Hamilton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Gregory the Great Church , Nottingham Way in Hamilton.
Entombment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Mausoleum, Cedar Lane in Hamilton.
