Larry R. LeClaire, Sr., 72, of Ewing passed away Sunday at Compassionate Care – RWUJH.
Larry Sr. was born in the little French American/Canadian city of Woonsocket, RI. He moved on to Massachusetts in 1958 and graduated from Waltham High in Waltham, MA in 1961.
He joined the USAF at an early age so he could serve his country during the Vietnam Era. In December of 1962, he married Dorothy Rebh of Hamilton and had four wonderful boys.
Larry Sr. lived and worked most of his life in New England. He worked for major electronic manufacturing companies in New England and Texas as a worldwide logistics and planning manager. He later created and ran a mobile optical company called The Visiting Optician whose motto was “Eye Come to You.”
He returned to MA in 1995 and retired in 1999 when his son Tom was killed on July 17th in Dallas, TX.
He became a 100% disabled veteran from service years in the 1960’s and return to living in the Ewing, New Jersey area July 2004 so he could be near his beloved sons and granddaughters.
Larry Sr. was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of the Trenton Elks 105 and the Ewing Senior Center as a volunteer at times and sometimes called on to pray Grace. He was a communicant and member of the Incarnation-St. James Parish in Ewing.
Brother of the late Danny LeClaire, he is survived by his ex-wife Dorothy Rebh; 3 sons, Larry Jr. of Yardville, William of Dallas, TX and Gregory of Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Nicole, Lauren and Christopher; brother Russell of Plano, TX.
The family will receive friends on Friday at the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Avenue, Ewing from 9 until 10:15AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11AM at Incarnation Church 1545 Pennington Road Ewing.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton.
