Helen W. Powell
Helen W. Powell, 94, passed away on Friday at Twining Village in Holland, PA.
Born in Trenton, NJ, Helen resided for many years in Trenton before moving to Yardley, PA. Helen graduated from Georgian Court University in June of 1944 and spent many years teaching science to the children of the Katzenbach School for the Deaf.
She was an avid gardener and artist.
Daughter of the late Frederick D. and Helen Bruther Woodruff, and wife of the late Francis J. Platt and William H. Powell, she was predeceased by her two sisters, Mary Woodruff and Anne Rebbeck.
Helen is survived by her six children, F. Michael Platt and his wife, Karen; Kathleen Utgoff and her husband, Victor; David W. Platt; Chris Platt; Sara Davis and her husband, Edwin, and Timothy J. Platt and his wife, Cheryl. Helen had 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church, 626 South Olden Ave., Trenton, NJ.
Entombment will be at Washington Crossing National Cemetery and will take place at 1 p.m. under the direction of the M. William Murphy Funeral Home, 935 Parkway Ave., Ewing, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Helen's memory may be made to Twining Village Memorial Garden, 240 Middle Holland Rd., Holland, PA 18960.
